First gold medal for India in commonwealth games 2022 3 medal in a day for weightlifting in commonwealth games 2022 Weightlifter Mirabai chanu won India's first gold medal in commonwealth games 2022 in women's 49 kg weightlifting category. She lifted a total of 201 kg ( 88kg in snatch and 113 kg in clean and jerk ). Mirabai chanu secured India's 3rd medal of the day, all were in weightlifting. Sanket sagar had won silver and Gururaja poojary won bronze in their respective events. The silver medal in 49kg weightlifting category went to Marie Hanitra Roliya Ranaivosoa of Mauritius ( 172kg ) and bronze to Hannah kaminski of Cannada (171kg ) . Mirabai chanu not only won gold but also set a record in the game. The difference between her and silver medalist Ranaivosoa of Mauritius is 29 kg which is a huge difference.
